Gas Engineer Assessment

course-detail-img-1

The ACS assessment is the initial gas engineering assessment, it is an entry-level course to becoming a certified gas engineer.

Before completing the gas engineer assessment, you must hold a valid qualification recognised by the Accreditation Certification Scheme (such as GET TO GAS or NVQ).

You also need to have 6 months of relevant experience and a portfolio that includes photographic evidence and witness declarations.

About the Gas Engineering Assessment

Our gas engineer assessment is a 4-5 day course, certified by Blueflame. During the course, you will cover the following:

  • CCN1 – Domestic Core Gas Safety: This allows you to register with GAS SAFE and work on a range of appliances.
  • CPA1: Now integrated into the CCN1 core and reassessment criteria. If you haven't completed CPA1, your CENWAT and HTR1 modules will be considered void, and you won't be allowed to work on the associated appliances.
  • CENWAT: This qualification enables you to work on open-flued, room-sealed, and floor-standing models. The previous CEN and WAT1 ACS modules have been combined into CENWAT, allowing you to work on various water heaters as well. You will gain the skills to adjust, service, and identify faults.
  • HTR1: If you plan to work with fires—whether installing, servicing, or conducting landlord certificates—this ACS covers flueless, inset live fuel effect, and radiant fires. You will learn to verify installations, perform chimney tests, and ensure catalytic converters are functioning properly.
  • CKR1: This qualification covers the installation, exchange, disconnection, servicing, repair, breakdown, and commissioning of domestic gas cooking appliances.

At the end of the course, you will undergo both practical and theoretical assessments.
