About This Course

This Air Source Heat Pump course is designed for new entrants to the industry, it includes a plumbing course, water regulations (WRAS) and an Air source course.
The course will enable operatives to specify, survey, design and install domestic or small commercial heat pump systems, enlisting manufacturers support where required. Systems up to 24kW for ground source and 16kW for air source heat pumps are covered, plus the following areas: Background to market Heat pump regulations and guidance Principles of ground and air source heat pump operation Heat pump collector types Heat distribution Pre-installation requirements Installation materials and methods Filling, flushing and testing Setting to work, commissioning Heat pump servicing and fault finding. 

Our students complete an intensive 6 weeks training course:

  • Training to work safely around electrical systems.
  • Training in the use of copper and low carbon steel so that your pipe skills are established at an acceptable standard.
  • Water Regulations; interpretation and definitions Materials and substances  
  • Requirements design and installation  
  • Back flow and contamination prevention  
  • Hot and cold -water services  
  • Flushing Devices  
  • Sanitary appliances, both internal and external

Practical and written test

Prerequisites

  • None, this course is ideal for new entrants to the industry wanting to get fully qualified in Air source but have no current experience.
