About Skills Bootcamps

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to an interview with an employer. These courses are fully funded and are free for learners. They are available to those who are unemployed, employed (looking to change career), and self-employed. Skills Bootcamps can be co-funded by employers to enable upskilling of employees.

About This Course

This Bootcamp Package is designed for those who wish to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in
the electrotechnology sector.

Our students complete an intensive 4 weeks training course:

Domestic Installation Skills
Electrical installation work/learn to install many circuits commonly found in domestic properties.

Fundamental Installation Theory
Introduction to electrical theory relevant to domestic wiring.

Inspection and Testing
Develop skills in inspection/testing and learn processes, practices and procedures for carrying out a full electrical test/completing relevant paperwork.


Wiring Regulations
Practice referencing to wiring regulations and understanding the purpose, layout and content.


Practical Assessments
Practical summative assessments on health, safety and practical installation works.

SS2D Theory Assessments
Completion of electrical science and installation theory modules and summative assessment on electrical
installation theory and principles of electrical science.

Practical and written test

Prerequisites

  • There are no pre-requisites for this course, but it is recommended for:
  • Operatives who carry out electrical work as a secondary task i.e. heating installers, bathroom and kitchen fitter’s, builders and domestic appliance fitters / installers.
  • Operatives who are undertaking electrical work that is not notifiable under Building Regulations

After Completing This Course You Will Gain The Following Certifications:

  • LCL Awards Domestic Electrical Installer Certificate
  • LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018

The course is fully funded for learners who are:

  • Over 19 as of the 31st August 2024.
  • Must have a right to work in the UK and must have been living in the UK for at least 3 years
  • Can only access 1 Skills Bootcamp within 1 year.
