About This Course

The DEI course is for operatives who carry out work on domestic electrical installations as a secondary task to their main role or who wish to offer full electrical installations in domestic properties as a stand-alone task.

The DEI defined scope course is suitable for experienced operatives who carry out electrical work as a secondary task, i.e. heating installers, bathroom and kitchen fitters and builders or whose main role is domestic electrical installations or maintenance and who wish to carry out domestic electrical installations, including installing new power or lighting circuits. If you have no former electrical knowledge or experience then we strongly recommend the 5-day ‘Get to Electrics’ foundation course

This course has not been designed to take a non-qualified / non-trade related person and to make them into an electrician, but has been designed to give these persons a greater understanding of the health and safety requirements of working with electricity.

Our students complete an intensive 5 days training course:

  • Electrical Safety legislation, Regulations Standards and Terminology
  • Applicable Building Regulations for Domestic Electrical Installations
  • Domestic Electrical Circuit Design Specifications
  • Domestic Electrical Installation Pre-Work Survey/Risk Assessments
  • Installing Domestic Electrical Circuits
  • Domestic Electrical Earthing and Bonding Requirements
  • Identification of Mains Position Components and Protective Devices
  • Safe Isolation Procedures
  • Inspecting, Testing and Commissioning Single Phase Domestic Electrical Circuits
  • Special Locations and Installations
  • Identification of Unsafe Domestic Electrical Situations
