About This Course

Anyone applying for an Installation or Maintenance Electrician gold card for the first time will be required to sign up to Registered Electrician status and be qualified to the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Anyone who needs an understanding of electrical wiring (gas installers, kitchen fitters, plumbers and builders) must work to the 18th edition from January 2019. For operatives who are CPS members, or are looking to join CPS, knowledge of 18th edition, alongside a DEI qualification, is required. 18th Edition training course is for experienced electricians and those requiring a working knowledge of the British Standard BS7671:2018 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. It is a Level 3 qualification.

Our students complete an intensive 3 Days training course:

  • The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations course involves classroom-based training which focuses on the new wiring regulations standard BS7671:2018. There is no practical element.

Assessment Method

Candidates will be required to complete a 60-question multiple choice online exam, which will cover both the existing regulations and the changes.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites required for the 18th Edition full qualification, however some experience of electrical installations is essential. Operatives must provide their date of birth for registration with City & Guilds. Top Up Day – You must have 17th Edition Wiring Regulations AMD3 qualification and have a good working knowledge of its practices – unchanged elements will be tested in the exam, but not covered during the course.
