Gas Training Assessment

6

The ACS assessment is the initial gas engineering course, it is the entrance point to becoming a qualified gas engineer.

Before completing the gas engineer assessment, you must hold a valid qualification recognised by the Accreditation Certification Scheme (such as GET TO GAS or NVQ).

You also need to have 6 months of relevant experience and a portfolio that includes photographic evidence and witness declarations.

About the Gas Training Assessment

Our gas engineer assessment is a 4-5 day Blueflame certified course. Throughout the course, you will cover the following:

  • CCN1 – Domestic Core Gas Safety: This qualification allows you to register with GAS SAFE and work on a variety of gas appliances.
  • CPA1: Now part of the CCN1 core and reassessment criteria. If you haven't completed CPA1, your CENWAT and HTR1 modules will be invalid, preventing you from working on the related appliances.
  • CENWAT: This module qualifies you to work on open-flued, room-sealed, and floor-standing models. The previous CEN and WAT1 modules have been combined into CENWAT, enabling you to work on a range of water heaters. You will learn how to adjust, service and identify faults.
  • HTR1: For those working with fires—whether installing, servicing, or conducting landlord inspections—this ACS covers flueless fires, inset live fuel effect fires, and radiant fires. You will be trained to verify installations, conduct chimney tests, and ensure catalytic converters are functioning properly.
  • CKR1: This qualification covers the installation, exchange, disconnection, servicing, repair, and commissioning of domestic gas cooking appliances.

At the end of the course, you will complete both theoretical and practical assessment, before officially qualifying as a gas engineer.
