ACS Initial

About this course

The ACS Initial is the final stage of Get Training’s pathway to becoming a fully qualified Gas Engineer. Following completion of the Get to Gas training and the required industry experience and portfolio, candidates can progress onto the ACS Initial to demonstrate their competence and work towards Gas Safe registration. Successful completion of the relevant ACS assessments allows candidates to take the final step towards becoming a fully certified gas engineer.

This course will cover:

  • CCN1 – Domestic Core Gas Safety, enabling Gas Safe registration and work on any gas appliance
  • CPA1 – Now part of the CCN1 core and reassessment criteria; not completing CPA1 voids CENWAT and HTR1 modules
  • CENWAT – Enables work on open flued, room sealed, and floor standing models, including adjusting, servicing, and fault identification for water heaters.
  • HTR1 – Covers flueless fires, insert live fuel effect fires, and radiant fires for servicing, installing, or landlord certificates; includes determining satisfactory installation, chimney tests, and catalytic converter function.
  • CKR1 – Install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair, breakdown, and commission domestic gas cooking appliances.

  • A candidate must have experience within the gas industry for a minimum of 6 months. Providing they can show evidence and have a portfolio confirmed with photographic and witness declarations, they may sit the ACS Initial Assessment
